Clam you dig it? Brand Identity for the Salt Line Oyster + Aleibby08.07.20

While we dream of casually dining out one day again we’ll just sit right here and salivate over The Salt Line’s groovy brand identity work by the talented Ioana Balasa. The Salt Line Oyster + Ale is an oyster-focused seafood restaurant that artfully “merges the historic fishing cultures of New England and the Mid-Atlantic.” Balasa drew inspiration from vintage oyster cans, baseball scorecards, and sea monsters. We’re particularly “digging” the dip-died menu boards, paper marbling, and canvas menu covers to give the vintage nautical theme a modern makeover. Click here for more of Balasa’s beautiful work.

About Ioana Balasa

I’m a graphic designer living in Raleigh, NC. Travel, found typography, vintage postcards, printed ephemera & other hidden treasures are some of the things that inspire my work.

My love of graphic design has been years in the making. As a little kid growing up in Bucharest, I used to make books for my friends out of paper scraps and tried to get my hands on any piece of stationery I could find when my mom would bring me to her office. I have wonderful memories reading my old books and magazines filled with playful typography and illustrations. In the same way that these pieces hold meaning for me, I strive to create work that is meaningful and memorable.

My 12 years of experience working with creative studios big and small have helped me become a versatile designer, building cohesive brands across print and digital media. I approach each project with thoughtfulness and dedication. My work has been recognized by many professional organizations and publications such as: Print Regional Design Annual, Communication Arts, Graphis, Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington, and AIGA.
